From Chapter 8 · printable
Pocket card
The book ends with a six-line card for hard weeks. In its own words: That card is the book in emergency mode.
Both sides print on one sheet of A4. Cut along the dashed lines, then fold or stick them back to back.
In emergency mode
For hard weeks
- Hot board?
- Stabilize before cosmology.
- Loud claim?
- Mechanism or packaging?
- Pretty interface?
- Tool or throne?
- Scary/glowing traffic?
- Class before entity.
- Group pressure?
- Agency up or leash on?
- Miss logged?
- Patch the model.

Run in order
Operating Posture
- Stabilize the chassis. Hot boards invent cosmologies.
- Method on claims. Hold mystery as unknown, not forbidden.
- Hygiene on interfaces. GUIs are not servers.
- Hygiene on requests. Outbound is not confirmed ACK.
- Classify traffic. Feeling is not entity ID.
- Keep agency. No outsourcing to cardboard, gurus, demons, or destiny alibis.
- Revise models. When packets contradict the story, patch the story.
If two steps are all you can run today, run stabilize and keep agency.

And if you only keep one sentence, the book’s own:
existence looks developed and maintained; treat creators as engineers under constraint; keep the debugger on; refuse altars and sneers alike.
Carry it without making it a membership card.
