The Developed Existence Hypothesis (DEH)
Life as live software, not a finished release.
In one sentence
Life was not created perfectly in one shot; it runs like live software that adapts, updates, and carries history.
DEH is the through-line: the artifact behaves like continuous revision under load. Perfect first iteration is the claim that keeps failing systems review.
What it means
The Developed Existence Hypothesis says existence behaves like maintained code under load, not a perfect first release sealed by decree. Look at the evidence the book gathers: fossils, leftover structures, inherited weak spots, rewritten regulation, and trade-offs that depend on the environment. That reads like a changelog, not a sealed artefact. DEH does not name the authors. Whether you say God, Divine Intelligence or emergent process, the label does not settle the mechanism. It sets one test for every origin story: if the story needs a flawless first version and forbids inspection, it fails. If it can absorb legacy debt and long-term adaptation, it stays plausible.
Key points
- Fossils, leftover structures, inherited vulnerabilities, rewritten regulation and environment-dependent traits all point to ongoing development under constraints, not a perfect first version.
- Any origin claim that needs a flawless first release and forbids changelog evidence fails review; one that can absorb legacy debt and long-term adaptation stays plausible.
- It does not pick a winner between religions. It raises the bar for all of them equally, because a label does not settle the mechanism.
- It applies to your own beliefs too: iteration includes retiring bad modules. Miss, log, patch, continue.
What it does not claim
- It does not settle who the authors are. Labels for the authors can wait.
- It is a model under audit, not sealed scripture. If evidence forces a patch, the book says patch it, including the book itself.
- It does not excuse skipping real problems: when your local board is failing, fix the local outage first and argue cosmology later.
- It does not exempt your own comfortable stories from checking.
